After 48 hours of incubation, a visual confirmation of the pH color shift is optional. If the sterilization treatment was unsuccessful, the culture media will initially turn greenish before becoming yellow during 60 C incubation, indicating the presence of living spores. After incubation, purple culture media indicates a successful sterilizing process.
